Founded in 1760 by François Delamotte, Lanson is one of the oldest maisons in Champagne. Lanson's fundamentals are the purity of the fruit, which is kept refined and fresh by a vinification without malolactic fermentation and a method whereby the grapes are vinified bunch by bunch, and an aromatic richness, given by the choice of the best cru. Only recently has the Maison admitted partial malolactic fermentation for the production of certain Champagnes. Among the Maison's Champagnes the lively and delicateBrut “Black Label” (93 pts. Gardini), stands out . It reflects the Maison's production style with a blend of classic grapes, which are Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, but come from a variety of cru chosen by the oenologist and with the addition of reserve wines from 10 different vintages. It is important to mention Brut “Le Rosé” (92 pts. Wine Spectator), because Lanson was one of the first houses to produce a rosé Champagne, which perfectly accompanies both aperitifs and desserts.
