Located within the natural amphitheatre of one of the oldest areas of the Chianti Classico, Castellare di Castellina was born in the 70s with the aim of producing top quality wine thanks to a selection of the best Sangiovese clones, the combined use of barrique and the guidelines of the well-known winemaker Emile Peynaud.
Among the flagship products of the winery, there is the I Sodi di S. Niccolò (Tre Bicchieri), a blend of Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera grapes, awarded on several occasions and surprisingly balanced thanks to an ageing in barrique up to 30 months: it gives notes of jam, tobacco and licorice for an harmonious and pleasant taste. This is flanked by the Chianti Classico and the Riserva version, structured and intense wines, both suitable for ageing. The selection closes with the Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggiale, a wine made from a single vineyard and aged for up to 18 months, capable of combining freshness and flavour with the harmonious taste of red fruits such as violets and cherries, for a long and satisfying finish.
