Tequila is a Mexican spirit obtained from the distillation of blue Weber agave, produced in the homonymous city of Tequila and in its surroundings, in the Jalisco state. Among the main types of Tequila there are the Tequila Blanco, the Tequila Reposado and the Tequila Añejo. The Tequila Blanco can be aged in steel. The Tequila Reposado is aged for at least 3 months in French or American white oak, new or previously containing whisky or wine. The Tequila Añejo, whose ageing happens for at least 12 months in barrels that were previously containing Tequila Reposado or other spirits, obtaining a dark colour and a bouquet rich in aromas. Typically served with salt and lime, tequila is used as a main ingredient for many cocktails such as Tequila Sunrise or Margarita.
