Gin is an alcoholic drink with Dutch origins obtained from the distillation of a fermented base of wholewheat and rye, in which a mixture of herbs and spices, called botanicals, is put to macerate. Among these, there are also juniper berries giving it a unique aroma and taste. It is really appreciated by the English and the "recipe" for Gin has been imported to the UK, where production techniques were further developed: after a first distillation and aromatization with juniper berries, coriander and other aromatic herbs, such as anise seeds and fennel, lemon and orange peel, liquorice root, cardamom, cumin and almonds, a second distillation occurs and creates the London Dry Gin. Gin is ideal as an aperitif and as an ingredient for various cocktails and long drinks.
