Description

Joseph Drouhin’s Volnay is a very elegant red wine produced in the Burgundy region, located south of Beaune, just after Pommard. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, this wine comes from vineyards planted on calcareous marl of various shades and small pebbles, which characterize the unique terroir of Volnay.

The winemaking follows a meticulous process that begins with a manual harvest, followed by a scrupulous selection. The grapes are completely destemmed and fermented for 2-3 weeks in small open tanks, using indigenous yeasts to preserve the authentic characteristics of the terroir. After pressing on a vertical press, the wine ages for 12 to 16 months in French oak barrels.

It has a bright and lively color. On the nose, the aromas recall violet and blackcurrant in young wines, evolving with aging towards notes of ripe fruit and sweet spices. In the mouth it offers a sensation of roundness and velvet, with fine tannins and an acidity that gives freshness. The aromatic persistence is remarkable, with tones of candied fruit and vanilla that remain for a long time.

This red wine pairs perfectly with roast poultry or white meat dishes.
