Description
The Piemontese red wine Maggiorina from the Le Piane winery rises in the ancient vineyards of Boca and Prato Sesia, cultivated according to the homonymous training system, "maggiorina", designed by the architect Antonelli, the same one who designed the well-known Mole Antonelliana. This ancient and fascinating vine planting system allows for an exclusively manual grape harvest.
It is produced with Nebbiolo, Croatina and Vespolina grapes, completed with grapes of other native varieties, both white and red. Following the harvest which takes place during the first days of October, the vinification is carried out entirely in 25-50 hl steel tanks with a 4-5 day maceration on the skins. The wine is always aged in steel for 12 months before bottling.
Wine of a bright ruby red color, the nose is filled with floral notes of violet which are enriched with fruity aromas of blueberry and sour cherry jam, vegetal and spicy hints. In the mouth it is infinitely fresh and ready to drink.
Versatile in pairing, it can accompany cold cuts and cured meats, as well as medium-aged cheeses and fish appetizers. Shown with cod.
