Description
The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced by the De 'Ricci winery and takes its name from a historic family of Montepulciano of medieval origins. The historic and charming winery is located in the Ricci palace in the center of Montepulciano and is now owned by the Trabalzini family. The wine is born on vineyards located in the hills (400-450 meters above sea level) on the west and south sides of Montepulciano.
The wine is produced 100% from Sangiovese grapes (Prugnolo gentile, as it is called in the area), which are partially crushed, and then vinified in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a maceration on the skins that lasts a maximum of 22 days. The aging of the wine takes place in tonneaux and large 20 hl barrels for approx. 15 months, and then continue for at least 9 months in the bottle.
Ruby red in color, on the nose there are aromas of violets, cherries, with light spicy notes. The sip is structured, savory and with well-structured tannins.
Ideal in combination with rich land appetizers and stewed meats of both beef and wild boar.
