Description
Viñas Bastardas is a red wine produced in the region of Castile and Leon, in the provinces of Burgos and Valladolid, and in the region of Murcia, in the Valle de La Raja. It is composed equally of Tinto Fino (aka Tempranillo) and Monastrell.
The vinification of Viñas Bastardas requires the Tempranillo to undergo alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels for 12 months. The Monastrell ferments in 11,000 liter French oak foudres, followed by malolactic fermentation in new 500 liter French oak barrels, and finally a minimum aging of 12 months in used barriques.
The wine has an intense and clear ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of red fruits, subtle notes of cocoa, roasted coffee and leather. On the palate, Viñas Bastardas shows good acidity that gives freshness and a sweet touch that makes it compelling, with a long finish and well-smoothed tannins.
It pairs perfectly with roasts.
