Description

Villa Gresti is a red wine made from a refined blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carménère, which expresses the elegance of the San Leonardo terroir. Its grapes come from vineyards located within the ancient walls of a monastery, with clay soils that provide excellent drainage for the Merlot, and light, sandy soils for the Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère. The vines, aged between 15 and 40 years, grow at altitudes ranging from 120 to 300 meters above sea level, exposed between South-West and North-West.

The fermentation takes place spontaneously in small concrete tanks, with a maceration of 12-15 days and frequent pump-overs. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in the same tanks, where it remains for several months to decant. Aging lasts for 18 months in medium-toasted French oak tonneaux, using first and second-pass wood. After the final blending, the wine is bottled and rests for at least another 18 months in the cellar before being marketed.

With an intense ruby red color, on the nose it opens with enveloping aromas of raspberries and cassis, accompanied by balsamic hints and sweet spices. On the palate, it stands out for its taut and balanced profile, with excellent persistence that enhances its elegance.

It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats and aged cheeses.
