Description
Nino Negri's Valtellina Superiore Grumello is born in vineyards located in Valtellina, north of Lake Como in the province of Sondrio, in the Grumello sub-area. The name of this sub-area comes from the Latin "grumus", or hillock, hillock.
It is produced exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes, locally called Chiavennasca, harvested only by hand during the month of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with post-fermentation maceration. Subsequently the wine ages for 24 months, of which at least one in French and Slavonian oak barrels.
It is characterized by a ruby color tending to garnet. The nose opens with pleasant ethereal and spicy hints of cloves and cinnamon, with balsamic and red fruit notes. On the palate it is dry, austere, pleasantly savory and elegant.
Perfect to accompany lamb, kid and roasted red meats, it is ideal in combination with aged cheeses.
