Description
The Valpolicella Classico Superiore of the Zenato winery was born on the land around Peschiera del Garda (VR) and is one of the great Venetian reds made from the native red grapes of the Veneto.
It consists of the traditional blend of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Corvinone. The manual harvesting of the grapes is followed by de-stemming and maceration for 10 days in steel vats, to conclude with refinement in oak tonneaux for about 12 months.
At the sight it is dark ruby red, dense. The aromatic range recalls hints of violet, then of red fruits, cherries and plums, with spicy and balsamic notes. The sip is dry and warm, it reveals well-behaved tannins and a good persistence of fruity sensations.
Excellent with roasted and stewed red meats, but also with aged cheeses.
