Description
Cantina Santadi is an important reality of Sardinian wine, which since 1960 has been operating in Sulcis, in the south-western area of Sardinia. The estate is located in an area characterized by very particular pedoclimatic conditions. The vineyards are planted with saplings near the coast, on sandy, loose and poor soils, which naturally contain yields. The climate is hot and dry, always very windy.
The Shardana red is produced with Carignano and Syrah grapes, harvested manually between the end of September and the beginning of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine is aged for about 12 months in French oak barriques.
In the glass it has a dark ruby red color, with aromas of small berries, ripe cherries, currants, blackberries, spicy and black pepper nuances typical of Syrah. On the palate it is harmonious, broad, with a rich fruit, ripe tannins and a very persistent finish.
To be combined with game, roasted and grilled meats.
