Description

The Purple Angel is produced by the Chilean company Montes and is one of the winery's iconic wines. The Montes winery was founded in 1987 by 4 friends who had already worked for years in the world of wine, Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand. Over the years the winery has grown into one of the largest and best known wine companies in Chile.

The wine is a blend of Carménere (92%) and Petit Verdot (8%). The grapes, harvested between late April and early May, first undergo a cold maceration (10 ° C) for 5-7 days. The fermentation lasts 12-15 days at 26-29 ° C and only at the end the skins are separated from the wine. Refine 80% in new French oak barrels, 20% in used barrels for 18 months.

In the glass it is ruby red in color and is expressed on the nose with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, dried plums, toasted aromas, sweet spices. The sip is finely balanced, with a long finish.

It goes well with roast beef or lamb with rosemary, stewed wild boar.
