Description
The Pinot Noir Special Cuvée is produced by the Chilean company Montes and belongs to the Montes Alpha wine line. The Montes winery was founded in 1987 by 4 friends who had already worked for years in the world of wine, Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand. Over the years the winery has grown into one of the largest and best known wine companies in Chile.
The Pinot Noir grapes, harvested by hand at the beginning of March, are vinified using a series of strategies, from cryomaceration to fermentation with the stalk, to fermentation of the grapes only. The malolactic fermentation took place in part (35%) in barriques and wooden barrels for 10-12 months.
In the glass it is bright ruby red in color and is expressed on the nose with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, custard, licorice, milk chocolate and nuts. The sip is soft, well structured, with a long finish.
It goes well with rich salads, soups and broths, even with mushrooms and soft cheeses.
