Description
San Zio by Cantine da Vinci is a Tuscan red wine that comes from the vineyards surrounding Villa da Vinci, in the province of Florence. The wine labels of the Villa da Vinci collection each represent a detail taken from the painting of Leonardo's Annunciation.
The wine is mainly composed of Sangiovese grapes, with a small addition of Colorino, which are harvested towards the end of September. The grapes are vinified in steel tanks at a controlled temperature (26-28 °C), where the maceration lasts about 12 days. During the vinification, numerous pumpovers are carried out, for the optimal extraction of colour and aromas. Ageing takes place in steel vats and in oak barriques, where the wine rests for 2–4 months.
In the glass, the wine is ruby red in colour. The nose has notes of red fruit, cherry and black cherry. The sip is enveloping and decisive, with a long finish.
The San Zio goes well with first courses seasoned with meat sauces and grilled meats.
