Description
In the 1990s, Andrea Franchetti created a model estate from scratch, with the aim of producing great wines. The choice fell on a wild and uncultivated area of the Val d'Orcia, deep in the Tuscan hinterland. Due to its climate and soil composition, the area has proved to be particularly suited for the main international varieties and in particular for the Bordeaux vines.
The wine is an assembly of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are vinified separately, following the different harvest periods, in steel tanks with maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine ages for 8 months in French oak barriques and for about 12 months in concrete tanks.
Intense and complex, it has a dark red color and conquers with notes of cherry, blueberry and currant, aromatic herbs and balsamic hints. The ripe and rich fruit and the evolved tannins give a powerful, elegant and persistent sip.
To be combined with game, roast beef, Florentine steak.
