Description

The Toscana Rosso Poggio Valente from the Le Pupille winery is a monovarietal Sangiovese wine. It was born in vineyards located near Pereta, in the Maremma area, a region known for its wild and uncontaminated beauty. The vineyards are grown on hilly terrain with a sandy surface layer and a rocky subsoil of sandstone mixed with clay origin, this wine benefits from an ideal south-west exposure which contributes to its exceptional quality.

This wine is the result of a careful harvest which takes place in the second half of September. The maceration, which lasts between 30 and 35 days in stainless steel, is followed by a 15-month refinement in tonneaux, 20% of which are new, which enrich the profile without overpowering the varietal typicality.

The wine has an intense and bright ruby color, which anticipates an olfactory bouquet in which the notes of cherry, pomegranate and myrtle stand out, which blend harmoniously with hints of fine spices and undergrowth. On the palate, it stands out for a compact and elegant flavor texture, supported by well-integrated and refined tannins, which culminate in a persistent finish with accents of liquorice.

It pairs perfectly with structured first courses, such as lasagna with meat sauce enriched with porcini mushrooms, red meats and game. Its structure and complexity are able to complement and enhance the intense flavors and richness of these dishes.
