Description

The Poggio ai Merli di Castellare di Castellina red wine is made with grapes from the vineyard of the same name, located on the hills of Castellina in Chianti, in the province of Siena.

It consists of 100% Merlot grapes, which are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, it is aged for 24-30 months in new French oak barriques, and then left for a further 12 months in the bottle before being placed on the market.

Intense ruby red in colour, it opens to the nose with complex aromas of black and red fruits such as raspberry, morello cherry, blackberry and plum, followed by toasted notes of cocoa, vanilla and coffee. The sip is soft and enveloping, with fine and elegant tannins and a long and harmonious finish.

Perfect to accompany red meats cooked in different ways, from grilled to stewed meats.
