Description
The red Pievasciata is a Tuscan wine from the young company Valle Picciola, located in the Pievasciata area, in the as of Castelnuovo Berardenga (SI), where it manages 105 hectares of vineyards following the principles of sustainable agriculture.
The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese grapes which are harvested in the third decade of September and come mainly from the Val di Picciola, Casuccio and Mordese vineyards. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature for about 10-15 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place instead in French oak barriques, where an aging of 8-10 months also takes place. The wine remains in the bottle for 4-6 months before being marketed.
In the glass the wine appears of an intense ruby red color with violet nuances. The nose opens on aromas of dark fruits, plum, blueberry, with balsamic and spicy notes. The sip is full, well structured.
Ideal in combination with roast meats, such as pork with plums or aged cheeses.
