Description
The red wine La Quinta del Giodo is produced by the oenologist Carlo Ferrini and his daughter Bianca. Today the company has 6 hectares of vineyards, located between S. Angelo in Colle and S. Antimo and also includes olive trees from which IGP Tuscan oil is produced. The wine takes its name from the fifth vineyard planted in chronological order.
Composed exclusively of Sangiovese grapes, these are fermented for 7 days in steel vats with a 13-day maceration on the skins. The wine is aged for 12 months partly in 700l tonneaux and in 2700l barrels, partly in 2700l cocciopesto, followed by a passage in concrete. Finally, the wine remains in the bottle for 6 months before being marketed.
Pale ruby red in colour, the nose has fruity aromas of cherries and wild berries, sweet spices and Mediterranean scrub. The sip is dry and fine, with well integrated tannins and a good persistence.
It goes very well with baked pasta and meat sauce, roast meats and grilled beef.
