Description
Ferro is a red wine produced in Tuscany and composed entirely of Petit Verdot grapes. Petit Verdot finds here ideal environmental conditions to express great complexity and intensity. The rigorous hand selection in the vineyard from budding makes this wine even more unique. The vineyard of approximately 1 hectare is frontally exposed to the city of Florence, in a position that guarantees a warm and dry microclimate, favoring complete and homogeneous ripening of the grapes.
The harvest is manual and takes place in small boxes to avoid breaking the grapes. The bunches are carefully selected on a sorting table, eliminating unsuitable grapes and green parts. The alcoholic fermentation takes place at temperatures never exceeding 30°C in stainless steel tanks, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The refinement lasts 30 months in new barriques and 6 months in the bottle.
The color is intense and decisive, with purple reflections. On the nose there are aromas of morello cherry, sherry, orange blossom, with a long balsamic finish of eucalyptus, enhanced by light hints of cocoa and ripe green pepper. On the palate it is imposing and harmonious, enveloping, with a finish of dense but extremely elegant tannins.
It pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.
