Description
This red wine from Roccapesta was born in Maremma, in southern Tuscany. The first company vineyards were planted in the 70s, while the new cellar dates back to 2010.
It is made up of 100% Pugnitello grapes, a rare Tuscan grape traditionally added to Sangiovese, here vinified alone. The vinification takes place in open barrique barrels, with a maceration on the skins for 26 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels, while the wine subsequently ages in French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by 24 months in the bottle.
Ruby red in color, the nose is expressed with aromas of cherry and currant, with notes of cinchona. The sip is warm and enveloping, with excellent persistence.
It goes well especially with grilled red meats.
