Description
Peperino is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes that was born in Casetta, in the province of Siena, on the Teruzzi estate, a reference reality managed by the well-known Terra Moretti group. The label depicts a warrior rabbit, armed with a spear and shield, astride a chimeric being, a snail with a man's head, as a tribute to the irony of the scribe friars and the fantasy animals of the illuminated manuscripts of the Gothic age.
The must ferments in truncated conical steel tanks, with maceration on the skins, at a temperature of 28 °C. The wine then remains to age for 12 months partly in steel and partly in French oak barriques and tonneaux. After being assembled, it remains for a further 6 months in a steel tank.
It seduces the eye with an intense ruby red colour. It is the woody note for ageing that dominates the first smells, well in tune with the fruity scents of this wine. In the mouth it is full-bodied, decisive and pleasant, with the right tannins well balanced by the fruit and a finish of good persistence.
Excellent in combination with first courses with meat sauce and red meats, especially stewed.
