Description
The Melograni by Teruzzi, a reference reality belonging to the well-known Terra Moretti group, is produced from a selection of Sangiovese and Petit Verdot grapes, both from the Montegonfoli di San Gimignano locality, in the province of Siena. On the label it shows the legendary animal par excellence, the unicorn, often represented with a lion's tail and bipartite hooves.
The grapes are harvested manually with careful selection in the vineyard. The must ferments in truncated conical steel tanks at a controlled temperature. It then proceeds with the maturation in French oak tonneaux for 12–15 months and with the final ageing in steel tanks for a period of 5 months.
In the glass it develops a bright intense ruby red colour. The olfactory spectrum is broad and persistent, composed of perfectly blended red fruit notes with woody hints typical of ageing in wood. When tasted it has a full body and an intense and well-balanced taste between the components of sweetness and structure.
Recommended in the company of lamb and second courses of red meat in general, it perfectly matches a platter of aged cheeses.
