Summary
Description
The Toscana Bianco di Poggio Argentato beautifully embodies the essence of the Maremma, telling the story of the land, the unique light and the sea breeze of the region through its character. This white wine stands out for its blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Traminer and Semillon. The vineyards, located in Pian di Fiora (Pereta) and Le Piagge (Grosseto) enjoy favorable exposures and are cultivated on tufaceous soils enriched with alabaster and chalk in Pian di Fiora, while in Le Piagge deep, clayey-loamy soils prevail.
The harvest takes place between the end of August and mid-September. After the harvest, the destemmed grapes are left in the press overnight, following which the wine is fermented in stainless steel. Maturation lasts 5 months and ends with a short passage in used tonneaux. During this period, the wine remains on its fine lees for as long as possible, in order to enrich the structure and intensify the flavors and aromas.
Poggio Argentato has a straw yellow color and golden reflections, offering the nose an opening on notes of orange blossom and aromatic herbs, followed by apple, mint and pear. In the mouth, the freshness and flavor balance harmoniously, evolving towards a persistent finish on notes of mango and white pepper.
This wine is ideal in combination with first courses such as spelled fettuccine with pistachio pesto or gnocchi with lobster sauce, where its freshness and complexity can enhance delicate and rich flavors at the same time. These characteristics together with its refinement make it suitable for all seasons, but in particular it is perfect for summer.
