Description

Sangiovese Alto by Petra was born on the estate of the company located in the splendid hills of the Val di Cornia, near Suvereto. This wine represents one of the most marked expressions of Tuscan tradition and wine culture.

It is made exclusively with Sangiovese grapes, manually harvested towards the end of September with a particular care for the maintenance of the berry. After a pre-fermentative maceration, the wine is placed in truncated conical oak vats, where it ferments and a new maceration takes place. The maturation process in demi-muid 600 L follows for at least 18 months, where it completes the development of all its organoleptic characteristics. The ageing phase in the bottle ends, where it rests for another 18 months.

Sangiovese Alto has a bright ruby red color, particularly intense. The nose reveals immediate vegetal aromas of undergrowth and earth, followed by notes of jam and ripe cherry. It is striking on the palate for its excellent wrapping and a mineral trace which attenuate an important tannic charge. Wine predisposed to ageing which, if well preserved, can still increase its characteristics.

It goes well with elaborate game dishes, stewed meats and red meats.
