Description
Paangold Tokaji Szamorodni Dry is a white wine produced in the Tokaj region, Hungary. This wine is made from grapes grown in 28 hectares of vineyards, of which 12 hectares are planted with Furmint, the traditional grape variety of the region.
The grapes are harvested from 5 selected Crus, with a third of the bunches affected by botrytis. After harvesting the entire bunch, the grapes are destemmed, macerated for 12 hours and then pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, followed by barrel aging for 16 years. This production method gives the wine its typical complexity and aromatic richness, characteristic of true Tokaji Szamorodni. The term "Szamorodni" comes from Polish and means "natural", reflecting the method of wine production. Unlike Tokaji Aszú, which requires manual selection of individual berries affected by noble rot, Szamorodni is produced using whole bunches of grapes, which can contain both botrytized and non-botrytized berries. Szamorodni Dry (száraz) has a complex flavor profile with notes of dried fruit, nuts and a pleasant acidity.
The wine has a pale amber color. On the nose, it offers aromas of green apple, walnut and bread crust, enriched with notes of barrel. On the palate, nut and fruit aromas emerge, with a balanced structure and well-defined acids, which give the wine a remarkable body and balanced structure.
It pairs perfectly with mature cheeses or smoked fish dishes.
