Description
The Smoky Twelve by BenRiach originates between Rothes and Elgin, in the northeastern part of Scotland. It is a whiskey made as a tribute to the 19th century Speyside style of whiskey, characterized by the use of a woody peat that gives the final whiskey sweeter and decidedly less smoky notes. It matures for 12 years between ex-Bourbon barrels, ex-Sherry barrels and barrels that previously contained Sicilian Marsala.
It has an amber yellow color. On the nose it releases rich and intense aromas, with notes of vanilla, caramelized fruit and toasted almonds. The palate is soft and deep, with hints of bitter chocolate, citrus peel and brown sugar joined by smoky and peat nuances in the finish.
Ideal to be tasted neat after dinner.
