Description
The Smoky Ten by BenRiach originates between Rothes and Elgin, in the northeastern part of Scotland. It is a whiskey made as a tribute to the 19th century Speyside whiskey style, characterized by the use of a woody peat that gives the final whiskey sweeter and decidedly less smoky notes than the classic peaty whiskeys of the Isle of Islay. It ages ex-Bourbon and ex-Jamaican Rum barrels for at least 10 years.
It reveals itself to the eye with a golden yellow color. The nose is full of sweet aromas, which turn from ripe fruit towards smoked honey and wood. The taste is complex and soft, with hints of maple syrup, pear, spices and a persistent oak finish.
Excellent to drink straight after dinner.
