Description
Arianna Occhipinti is one of the most famous and appreciated winemakers on the Italian scene. His estate is located near Vittoria, in south-eastern Sicily. The vines are cultivated in an uncontaminated territory, characterized by a Mediterranean climate, hot and dry, always breezy, thanks to the presence of the sea breezes.
Siccagno is a pure Nero d'Avola that is born in vineyards located at about 280 meters above sea level, on sandy soils. The harvest takes place in the first weeks of October. The grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins for about 25 days. The wine ages for 22 months in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels and is then bottled without any filtration.
It has an intense ruby red color, with aromas of small dark berry fruits, hints of spice and undergrowth. The sip is rich and broad, with fine tannins and a ripe and expressive fruit. The finish is long and harmonious.
To combine with roasts and game.
