Description
The Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie di Calabretta comes to life from vines over 80 years old, mainly ungrafted, grown organically on the northern side of Etna, in Calderara di Randazzo, in the province of Catania.
It is produced from Nerello Mascalese grapes with the balance of Nerello Cappuccio grapes, harvested by hand. Fermentation is spontaneous, with maceration in contact with the skins for 5 days, in steel containers. The wine ages in Slavonian oak barrels for approximately 60 months and for another 12 months in the bottle before being released on the market.
It has an intense ruby red color. On the nose it is enveloping and elegant, with a bouquet characterized by aromas of aromatic herbs and chamomile flowers, enriched by delicate mineral notes and red berry fruit. The taste is generous and powerful, with ripe tannins that lead to a remarkably persistent finish.
Excellent in the company of roast meats, it is ideal in combination with game and game dishes.
