Description

Mille e una Notte is an icon of the Donnafugata winery, symbolizing creativity and refinement. This special edition celebrates the great story of Il Gattopardo, the Netflix series inspired by the masterpiece of Tomasi di Lampedusa. A wine that invites a sensory journey to discover the most authentic Sicily, through a modern interpretation of winemaking tradition.

Produced in the estates of Contessa Entellina and other renowned areas, it is made from a blend of Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot, and Syrah. After a careful manual selection of the grapes, fermentation takes place in stainless steel with maceration on the skins for about 14 days at a controlled temperature of 28°-30°C. Aging occurs for 12 months in new French oak barriques, followed by almost 2 years of rest in the bottle.

With an intense ruby red color, it offers a complex bouquet with notes of black mulberries and plums, enriched by spicy hints of black pepper and licorice. Elegant shades of mint and cocoa beans complete the aromatic profile. On the palate, it is deep and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a long gustatory persistence.

It pairs perfectly with roasted and braised meats, first courses with ragù, and lamb rack, as well as flavorful preparations of stewed fish.
