Description
Terre Siciliane Contrada R of Passopisciaro was born in the Rampante district, a small cru located at over 1000 meters above sea level, on the edge of the lava flows and the cultivation of vines on Etna. Contrada Rampante grapes are the last to be harvested, due to the altitude at which they are located.
The wine is produced from 100% Nerello Mascalese, hand-picked in late October-early November. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation, which takes place in oak barrels, where the wine also remains for about 18 months of aging.
It is a ruby red wine. On the nose it has intense hints of violet, red fruit, enriched by notes of undergrowth and white pepper. In the mouth it is elegant and savory, with a long persistence.
It goes well with first courses with meat sauce, with stewed meats, both white and red, and with roasts.
