Description
The Masserì by Tenuta Ulisse is a wine that expresses the essence of the Primitivo grape, enhanced by the pedo-climatic characteristics of Abruzzo, where the calcareous-clayey soil and the influence of the mountain climate blend with the breezes of the Adriatic. The history of this vine, introduced into Italy by the Benedictines in the 17th century, is reflected in its complexity.
The harvest, followed by crushing-destemming, precedes a phase of maceration and alcoholic fermentation in steel for 15-20 days at a controlled temperature of 24-26°C. Subsequently, part of the wine ages in fine American and French oak barriques, enriching itself with nuances and complexity.
Masserì has a purplish red color embellished with ruby reflections. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet of berries, blackberry and plum, enriched with delicate floral notes. In the mouth the wine reveals itself to be majestic, elegant and austere, with smooth tannins and a vibrant acid-mineral vein that contribute to a very long finish, in correspondence with the olfactory sensations.
It is the ideal companion for robust dishes such as roasts, meat sauces, braised meats, both feathered and furred game and large cheeses, with which it can best express its qualities.
