Description

The Taurasi Vigna Macchia dei Goti, produced by the Caggiano winery, originates from the homonymous district - Macchia dei Goti - located near the town of Taurasi, in Campania.

It is made up of pure Aglianico grapes, coming from clayey-calcareous soils at an altitude of 350 meters, on the surrounding hills. The harvest takes place between the end of October and the beginning of November, one of the most late in Italy. Following the manual harvesting of the bunches, the must obtained by destemming and pressing is sent to alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak barrels follows for a period of 12-18 months.

Ruby red in color, it opens to the nose a bouquet of berries, licorice, earth and a very light vanilla trace. In the mouth it is powerful in its aromatic imprint and in the gustatory sensations, which pass through a marked tannin and a rich body.

Ideal to accompany a pigeon breast with cherry compote.
