Description
The Alto Adige Barthenau Vigna S. Urbano di Hofstätter originates in vineyards that are located within the suitable area of the Barhenau estate in Mazzon, in the province of Bolzano.
It is made from only Pinot Noir grapes, carefully harvested by hand in small boxes. After a partial crushing and destemming of the bunches, fermentation takes place in cask with 10 days maceration in contact with the skins. Subsequently the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, for 8 months in large barrels and for a further 8 months in bottle, before being released on the market.
Hofstätter's Barthenau Vigna S. Urbano is characterized by a very concentrated ruby red color. The nose offers a progressive emergence of typical aromas of a Burgundy wine, with black cherries and raspberries in the foreground, underlined by light hints of vanilla and other spices. On the palate it is elegant and fresh, with well balanced tannins and an excellent aromatic concentration.
Perfect to accompany red meats and game, it is ideal in combination with not too spicy cheeses.
