Description
Lagrein Rieder from Castelfeder is a wine produced in Alto Adige, known for its native origin and preference for warm, sunny climates. It grows on detrital soils in the river valleys between Bolzano and Egna. The name Rieder refers to one of Bolzano's historic vineyards and the label illustrates part of the vineyard boundary in Egna.
Production involves the manual harvesting of the grapes, with a fermentation process that includes constant contact of the must with the skins for two weeks in steel tanks. Maturation takes place on the noble lees for six months, allowing the development of an aromatic complexity and a well-defined tannic structure.
At sight this wine has an intense brilliant ruby red color. On the nose it offers a broad and complex aroma with notes of berries and violets. On the palate it is warm and persistent, with fine and well-structured tannins and a pleasant typical acidity.
Lagrein Rieder pairs perfectly with strong-flavoured starters, roasts, game and spicy cheeses.
