Description

Meerlust's Stellenbosch Rubicon comes from vineyards located in the renowned Stellenbosch region of South Africa.

It is mainly produced with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes, harvested and selected by hand. Fermentation takes place, with maceration on the skins, in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. After the 7-month malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 20 months mainly in new Nevers French oak barrels and partly in Nevers and Alliers second-passage barrels.

Rubicon has a deep and intense red color tending to purple. The nose opens with delicate aromas of violet and ripe plum, enriched with elegant hints of licorice, cedar wood and incense. On the palate it shows medium body and excellent structure, with soft tannins in perfect balance with the fruity sensations.

This red wine is perfect to accompany red meat and game dishes, braised meats and aged cheeses.
