Description

Kadette Pinotage is a wine from the Kanonkop company, located in Stellenbosch, one of the most famous wine-growing areas in South Africa. The Kanonkop family business mainly produces red wines that are different interpretations of Pinotage, the prince red grape of South Africa. The story of the name "Kanonkop" is reminiscent of a cannon placed on top of Mount Simonsberg that warned farmers of the arrival of merchant ships in Table Bay, so that they could set out to barter for goods.

The fermentation of the grapes takes place in concrete vats kept at 28 ° C, during which punching down every 2 hours is carried out. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 18 months in French oak barriques.

Intense ruby red color, the nose reveals aromas of dry rose, red currant, strawberry jam and spices. The sip is soft, enveloping, with finely structured tannins and a moderate acidity.

Kadette Pinotage is ideal in combination with red meats and stewed or roasted game.
