Description

The Kadette Cape Blend red wine is a wine from the Kanonkop company, located in Stellenbosch, one of the most famous wine-growing areas in South Africa. The story of the name "Kanonkop" is reminiscent of a cannon placed on top of Mount Simonsberg that warned farmers of the arrival of merchant ships in Table Bay, so that they could set out to barter for goods.

The wine is a blend of 4 red grapes, Pinotage, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The fermentation of the grapes takes place in concrete vats kept at 29 ° C, during which punching down every 2 hours is carried out. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 16 months in French oak barriques, of which 80% new and 20% second passage.

Intense ruby red color, the nose reveals aromas of cherries, plums, cinnamon, cloves and chocolate. The sip is fresh and well balanced, with a persistent finish.

Kadette Cape Blend is ideal in combination with red meats and stewed or roasted game.
