Description
From the experience acquired over six generations since 1698, the South African Diemersdal winery offers today the complex expression of a Pinotage Riserva. Not far from the Atlantic Ocean, the winery grows and vinifies its grapes in the Durbanville Valley area, starting from the 180 hectares of vineyards.
The Pinotage grapes used for the vinification of this Reserve come from a plot located to the north and defined by a soil rich in clay and organic matter, known as "Red Hutton". The bunches, selected and collected, are macerated, pressed and sent for fermentation, both alcoholic and malolactic. The wine is then transferred into barriques, 40% new, and here it matures for a period of about 14 months.
Ruby red with intense and deep shades. Its scent opens in a range of complexity painted by the red and dark fruit in jam, chocolate, spices and toasted notes. The taste is intense and perfectly corresponding to the bouquet perceived on the nose. A good balance between tannin and freshness fits into a full and round body.
To be combined with lamb chops.
