Description
The Yamazakura Single Cask Asaka Whiskey is produced by the ancient Japanese distillery Sasanokawa Shuzo, founded in 1765 and located in Koriyama in Fukushima Prefecture. The name "Yamazakura" comes from the Japanese words Yama meaning "mountain" and Sakura meaning "cherry trees".
It is produced from malted barley with discontinuous distillation in copper stills. It is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for at least 3 years and bottled in single cask no. 18128.
Pale gold in color, it opens on the nose with delicate notes of white flowers, vanilla, pastry and caramelized pineapple. On the palate it is enveloping and vigorous, with hints of spices and wood.
Ideal drunk straight.
