Description
Yamazakura Single Malt Peated Whiskey is produced by the ancient Japanese distillery Sasanokawa Shuzo, founded in 1765 and located in Koriyama in Fukushima Prefecture. The name "Yamazakura" comes from the Japanese words Yama meaning "mountain" and Sakura meaning "cherry trees".
It is produced from malted barley with discontinuous distillation in copper stills. It is aged in ex-bourbon barrels for at least 3 years and bottled in single cask no. 19125.
Pale gold in colour, it opens on the nose with delicate notes of peat. On the palate it is creamy and dry, with hints of honey and vanilla.
Ideal drunk straight.
