Description
Carpentum is a Spanish red wine produced by Vides Singulares and composed exclusively of Garnacha grapes. The winery takes its name from a historical engraving found on the façade of the winery itself, a sign of a long winemaking tradition. Carpentum pays homage to Roman carpenters, in particular to Mariano Maestre, father of the producer. The vineyards are located in Mancenra de Arriba, in the Sierra de Ávila, at 1050 meters above sea level, on sandy soils with decomposing calanea and granitoids. The vines, grown as bushes, are over 80 years old and oriented to the north, without the use of herbicides and naturally fertilized.
The harvest is manual and the grapes are 100% destemmed. Fermentation takes place in 300 and 400 liter terracotta amphorae with indigenous yeasts, followed by refinement in 250 liter lightly toasted French oak barrels and 500 liter stainless steel barrels, without stabilization and clarification processes.
This wine has a brilliant ruby color. The nose offers aromas of fresh red fruits, sweet spices, and light floral notes. On the palate, it is elegant and harmonious, with a good tannic structure and a persistent and mineral finish.
Perfect to pair with grilled red meats.
