Description
Mandrarossa has been producing Barrique Nero d'Avola since 2004, from a selection of the best 15 hectares of this variety. The name Cartagho is a reference to the history of the Carthaginian people and to the peaceful coexistence established with the local populations capable of creating a virtuous melting pot.
The harvest takes place during the first week of September. At the end of the harvest the grapes are fermented with maceration on the skins for 6-8 days in steel at a temperature of 22-25 ° C. The wine ages for 12 months in barrique, followed by 4 months of aging in bottle.
Intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The olfactory profile recalls the aroma of wild blackberry and morello cherry. On the palate it has a linear and immediate sip, with notes of date and maritime pine.
It is a wine for braised meats and stews including game but also enhances medium-aged cheeses.
