You may be wondering what happened to the old Rieussec bottle. The famous Sauternes changes face: goodbye to the opulent sweetness and the overly marked barrels. In their place, a finer freshness, designed for modern palates. Even the packaging is renewed, with eco-sustainable bottles and a modern design. A transformation that fascinates and provokes discussion.

Description

Château Rieussec Premier Grand Cru is born in the estate of the same name belonging to the Domains de Baron de Rothschild, in the heart of the AOC Sauternes. It is one of the premier crus included in the Official Classification of Bordeaux Wines of 1855, a classification system created by Emperor Napoleon III on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition in Paris, in order to make the best Bordeaux wines more recognizable even outside the borders of France. The wines were ordered from the first to the fifth cru based on the reputation of the winery and the price, which at the time was a factor directly related to quality. Together with the other premier crus Grand Classé it is considered a legend that has made the history of wine.

It is obtained mainly from Sémillon grapes and Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes, harvested in several passages, grape by grape, after the bunches left to dry on the plant have been attacked by noble rot, Botrytis cinerea. At the end of fermentation, the wine ages for at least 18 months in French oak barriques, before being bottled.

Château Rieussec is characterized by an intense golden yellow color. On the nose it opens with sweet aromas of honey and wild flowers, enriched by spicy notes of ginger. In the mouth it is soft and creamy, with excellent freshness, with a pleasantly persistent candied apricot finish.

Ideal when paired with shellfish dishes and blue cheeses, it is perfect to accompany dessert.
