Description
Salice Salentino 50th Leone De Castris Riserva Harvest originates from vineyards located in the Apulian DOC Salice Salentino. It owes its name to the anniversary of 50 years from the first vintage of 1954, reported on the label since 2004.
This wine is made with a blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes, harvested in late September and selected with the utmost care. After destemming, maceration follows at a controlled temperature of 20-22 ° C for 8-12 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in oak barrels for about 12 months and another 6 months in bottle before being released on the market.
It has an intense red color with garnet reflections. The nose opens with fruity hints of blackberry and black cherry, enriched with notes of basil and sweet spices. In the mouth it is soft and balanced, with well-present but never intrusive tannins.
This wine has rather long life prospects but can also be tasted in the early years. It is ideal to accompany roasts, red meats and aged cheeses.
