BWW 2022 - Best Italy Wine Critic of the World
Luca Gardini
Beautiful expression of Negroamaro, of great olfactory impact, with aromas of blackberries in jam, licorice and touches of china. The entry on the palate is intense and enveloping, with well integrated tannic and alcoholic components. Return of the earthy notes on a finish of good depth.

Description

This Salento Negroamaro is produced starting from one of the most representative native vines of the Salento peninsula, of which Masseria Ficarigna is the spokesperson. Inspired by the symbolic fruit of the prickly pear, the label shows a stylized image of a "pica", the Salento magpie, one of the birds that contribute to the dispersion of seeds and the spread of this plant in the region.

The grapes are carefully picked by the winery team and immediately transported to the cellar where a soft pressing and fermentation with maceration in steel for 15 days take place. The wine ends its ageing with a passage in barrique for 8–10 months.

It is a red wine that announces itself with a ruby hue. The nose is deep and orchestrated on rich notes of red berry fruit. In the mouth it is intense, soft and balanced.

Excellent to combine with first courses of Mediterranean cuisine, as well as cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
