Description
The Duluc Branaire-Ducru is produced by the Château Branaire-Ducru in Saint Julien in Bordeaux and the "second wine" of the cellar. The Château owes the first part of its name to its founder Jean-Baptiste Braneyre, who founded it in 1680, while the second part derives from Gustave Ducru, who added his surname in 1875. Château Branaire-Ducru has changed many owners, up to Patrick Maroteaux, who from the 80s began to make substantial qualitative changes to the cellar.
The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot from the younger vineyards of the estate. After harvesting and manual selection, the grapes are vinified by parcel at a controlled temperature in steel vats of different sizes. The maceration on the skins is approx. 3 weeks and the fermentations take place in steel vats. After blending, the wine ages for a few months in French oak barriques.
In the glass the glass is a deep ruby red. The nose reveals aromas of cassis, cherry and smoky notes. The sip is juicy, elegant, with excellent persistence.
Ideal in combination with baked pasta, roasted red meats and aged cheeses.
