Description
Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases from Château Leoville Las Cases is produced in the northern part of the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, near the Gironde River. Despite being the second wine of the château, it is a first-rate wine, simply obtained from the most recently planted vineyards of the estate.
The harvest is carried out manually. The winemaking takes place in small batches in oak, concrete or stainless steel containers, then the wine is transferred to oak barrels where it undergoes a maturation process of approximately 18 months.
With a garnet red color with purple reflections, it displays an aromatic range of blackberry and blueberry jam on the nose, with hints of black pepper, anise and tobacco. On the palate it reveals a medium-bodied wine, with well-integrated tannins and greater softness than the first wine, due to a greater presence of Merlot grapes in the blend.
Recommended in combination with roast lamb, it is perfect to accompany duck or game dishes.
